Want Nepal in higher rank: Dassanayake

Former Sri Lankan and Canadian Cricketer Pubudu Dassanayake will be in Kathmandu next week as the coach of Nepali cricket team. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) appointed 41-year-old Dassanayake for the job on August 23. Dassanayake, who guided Canada to the World Cup 2011 as a coach, is expected to take the Nepali cricket to a higher level. In this scenario, Nabin Khatiwada and Binod Pandey spoke with Dassanayake over the telephone on Sunday.

Nary wins Youth Player of the Year

Nary Thapa won the Youth Player of the Year award at the NSJF Pulsar Sports Awards 2067. Para-athlete Bikram Rana, who participates in cricket and athletics, won the Parathlete of the Year award as football, cricket and boxing lead the biggest sports awards of the country with two awards each. As winners, they received Rs. 30,000 cash along with gift hampers from Timex, College of Medical Sciences, Dish Media Network, Buddha Air, Cherry World and New Horizon Carpet.

Cricket leads Sports Awards nomination

Cricket leads the nomination in the NSJF Pulsar Sports Awards with six being nominated in various categories in the biggest sports award of the country. The NSJF Pulsar Sports Awards set for September 10 will award sports personalities in eight awards, and the Player Selection Committee headed by NSJF secretary Mahesh Acharya revealed five nominations in four main categories.
