Nepali national cricket team looks to break jinx against the UAE as it takes on the host nation at Sharjah Cricket Ground on Wednesday in the ACC Trophy Elite. Nepal had encountered the UAE six times in the past in the One-Day format of the game and lost all the six matches. Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) set up final clash against Armed Police Force (APF) in the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament. Nepalgunj defeated Region No 6 (Baitadi) by 13 runs in the first semifinal on Tuesday while APF thrashed Region No 3 (Kathmandu) by seven wickets. Nepal to take on Sri Lanka in first match

Nepal will take on Sri Lanka in its first match of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup to be held i n Guangzhou, China from October 24 to 31. Nepal will take on Sri Lanka on October 25. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) published the tournament draw on Monday and Nepal is slated on group B of the tournament along with Bangladesh, China and Sri Lanka. Hong Kong, India, Pakistan and Thailand are placed in group A. Nepal will face Bangladesh on October 26 and China on October 29.

Region No 3 (Kathmandu) set up semifinal clash against Armed Police Force (APF) while Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) set up another semifinal clash against Region No 6 (Baitadi) in the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament being held here in Pokahara. Armed Police Force (APF) entered into the semifinals of the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament after pulling consecutive third victory on Friday. APF defeated Region No 1 (Biratnagar) by 45 runs on Friday at the Nagar Bikash Ground, Pokhara. APF elected to bat and put up 90/8 in 20 overs. Wai-Wai sponsors Rs 21m to U19 cricket

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Wai-Wai, the instant noodle product of CG Foods, inked on the contract paper of sponsoring Nepali U-19 cricket for next five years. CG Foods announced a sponsorship of Rs 21 million for the period amidst a signing ceremony in the capital on Monday. Cricket Association of Nepal President Tanka Aangbuhang and Chaudhary Group’s Managing Director Nirvan Chaudhary signed the MoU on Monday. Anil hits century as Nepal enters Final, Div 3

Anil Mandal scored a century as Nepal continued its dream run with fifth victory in a row in the World Cricket League Division 4 to reach the final and qualify for the Division 3. U-19 team beats Northern Territory Academy

Nepal U-19 cricket team registered three wickets victory over Northern Territory (NT) Academy in the third practice match ahead of the U-19 World Cup inAustraliaon Friday. Winning the toss, NT opted to bat first and scored 195 runs in 50 overs losing nine wickets. Rahul BK grabbed four wickets to restrict NT to the small total. Nepali U-19 loses practice match

Nepali U-19 cricket team, which reached Australia on Saturday to participate in the U-19 World Cup starting from August 4, lost its first practice match on Sunday against a local team in Darwin. Northern Territory (NT) Strike Senior Team thrashed Nepali U-19 by 98 runs in the practice match. Nepal elected to field and the local team put up 281/7 in 50 overs. In reply, Nepal was all out for 183 runs. Naresh Budhaayer scored 53 runs while Faizlur Rahman added 50 runs. “According to our team manager Kiran Rana, Faizlur had picked injury while fielding but he succeeded in scoring a half-century,” said Assistant Coach Jagat Tamata. He will leave Kathmandu on August 3.

U19 cricketers get sponsorships

Three members of the U19 cricket team scheduled to participate in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup received equipment sponsorship from two Indian sports goods and equipment manufacturers — Talwar Sports and Ranger Sports. Talwar Sports sponsored wicketkeeper-batsman Subash Khakurel and batsman Rajesh Pulami Magar, while bowler Ram Naresh Giri got sponsorship from Ranger Sports for two years.

Mehboob Alam dropped

Mehboob Alam is dropped from the national squad of the World Cricket League Division 4 in Malaysia while former captain Binod Das has made a return. According to a source at the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), all-rounder Alam and opener Paresh Lohani have not been included in the 18-member preliminary squad to be announced shortly.

Troubled Preparation

Nepali cricket is always surrounded by problems before participating in International tournaments. Nepal had lots of plans even before participating in ICC U-19 World Cup and World Cricket League Division 4 tournaments, but  lack of training due to rainy field in the mid monsoon season, and national cricket championship not being organized are the main problems this time around. The U-19 players in the close camp were unable to practice due to continuous rain. Pitch at the TU Cricket Ground is under covers, while the rest part of the ground is completely water logged. All 16 squads have now been named ahead of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012, which takes place in Queensland, Australia, from 11-26 August, according to International Cricket Council (ICC). WCL Division 4 in September

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that Malaysia will host Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 4 from 3 to 10 September 2012. Six teams will compete for the opportunity to finish in the top two of the event and ultimately gain promotion to the Pepsi ICC WCL Division 3 which will be held next year.
